The client’s goal on this project was to create a new sanctuary, fellowship hall, classrooms, and administrative offices on the site of their existing facility. They desired a common area that would link the new sanctuary, the old sanctuary and the new fellowship hall.

To respond to the client’s desires, a covered courtyard that becomes the front door to the primary functions was designed. The forms and materials were selected are environmentally appropriate, durable, and evoke a feeling peace and movement. The lobby is designed to extend up and out welcoming the congregation. The sanctuary is accentuated by clear story windows that flood the pulpit with light. The steeple, located at the focal point, transcends skyward from a base of fractured  stone shards. The repetition of the courtyard columns is picked up by the sanctuary windows and echoed by the columns of the administrative block creating an aesthetically pleasing and rhythmic street façade.
